To the Line (mobile cube poem) 2023

To the Line is a three-dimensional text response to the Big Crush series of paintings by Cork artist Deirdre Frost, exhibited at the Kilkenny Arts Festival in August 2023.

This body of paintings looks at the phenomenon of desire, considering how it consciously and subconsciously shapes the world in which we live.

Inspired by children's toys of the 1980s and Frost's use of a "mobile painting" form, To the Line is mobile cube poem, which emerged from a series of studio visits and conversations about the painter's work. It is designed to be picked up and played with, with multiple possibilities for how the text can be read.
